Dark Therapy

Safe with pregnancy

Pregnancy1.png

This is the practice of keeping an individual in complete darkness for a period of time in order to treat some conditions

Caution
  • Prolonged time in the dark without alternating with light will confuse the natural rhythm, and is unlikely to make the individual feel better

Therapy for:
  • Sleeplessness

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • Headaches

  • Migraines

  • Bipolar Disorder: Mania

Comments
  • Melatonin is beneficial for wellbeing. The body seem to produce more of it in the dark, hence, dark therapy may be beneficial as a consequence of such an increase

  • Dark therapy does not always involve the turning out of all the lights

  • Wearing glasses with amber coloured lenses will block out the blue part of sunlight, and the eyes and brain are made to believe that it is dark. This makes the body produce more melatonin
