Mānuka Honey

This is honey from bees that feed on the nectar of the mānuka trees in Australia and New Zealand. The natural health benefits of honey has been known and exploited for ages. However, mānuka honey is thought to have a much higher content of antibacterial compounds than other types of honey, hence, it assumes extra benefits for the wellbeing of the user

Caution


If taken in excess:


  • It may increase blood sugar 


  • May interact with chemotherapy drugs

  • Reduce dental plaque and gum diseases 


  • Improve diet and general wellbeing


  • Diabetic ulcers


  • Chronic wounds


  • Cuts and scrapes


  • Sore throats


  • Improve digestion

  • There is no evidence of significant health benefits 


  • Due to the rising costs, fake Manuka is common 


  • Antibacterial effects are not unique, and are not enough to treat infections in the human body 


  • Very fashionable and relatively harmless if taken in moderate quantities
